This is a photograph of a new horse shoe being prepared to be fitted, first it needs to have Drill Tech put on the bottom of the shoe which helps the horse from slipping on hard surfaces, the show first needs to be heated

This is a photograph of a Stock, this is for horses who have trouble holding their foot up for the Farrier or Blacksmith for long periods of time, they are placed in the stock for shoeing |

This is a photograph of a Stock being used, in the middle of the horse is chains covered in a rubber tubing if the horse need to rest he can lay on he chains, the chains behind him keep him in the stocks, the blocks below the horse that is padded is where his leg will be put to rest on while he has his shoes are put on. This is a safe way to shoe horses that have problems with keeping their foot up for the Farrier or Blacksmith |

Well i am sure there is a few people who don't enjoy the photo's above and we don't like putting them in there either put it saves every one from getting hurt. Now the good news is i have been told about a head stall that will help get control of the animal is not harmfull and my farrier is very happy with the results and now we don't need to use the stocks on 99% percent of the horses it was tried on.
1. It is a bit-less training technique.
2. It has an oval shape that fits around the muzzle/nose of the horse.
3. It never restricts a horse's breathing.
4. The horse is comfortable, allowing you can keep his attention longer.
5. It gives your horse a sense of freedom and calmness.
Here ar a few photos below showing it at work. This is Rowdy and he earned his name in the stocks stomping his feet throwing his head and rocking back and forth. He looks much more relaxed with this head stall on, first time in 4 years he let us pick up his feet let alone put shoes on.

The photo on the left is a real good photo of the head stall used to get him to relax, there is a halter on him but not necessary this is called a Noavel there are other head stalls out there similar but found this one to work quite well for us. Notice the lead line.
We found out about this Noavel at the horse world expo in Harrisburg Pa. where we met the Canadian Cowgirls Drill Team, while talking to them about a horse we had little control leading him in large open spaces they showed us the Noavel and explained how it works, to day we can lead the horse any where with no problems even a child can do it.
They told us a story about using it to shoe a horse and it worked so we gave it a try, it is amazing the progress we made with several horses.
Visit the website for more info at : http://www.noavel.net/index.shtml |
The Noavel Headstall is worn as a halter and is more humane and comfortable than traditional headgear. It is an essential tool for gaining your horse's respect and attention. The Noavel Headstall reduces the time it takes to achieve your goals with your horse and provides for a competitive edge in any discipline.
Rick Wheat’s Noavel Headstall works off the bump and release principle. With the Noavel Headstall your horse is totally comfortable and when you need to correct him for any bad habit or bad behavior all you have to do is give him a quick light bump, and he will learn quickly that he doesn’t want to misbehave.
It's that easy. The Noavel Headstall allows you to gain the control you need to safely handle your horse.
